Door and Large Opening Management

Configure doors and large openings with v7.0 AI-powered opening optimization, structural validation, and automated frame coordination.

v7.0 Enhancements

New Features:

  • ? AI opening placement (optimal location suggestions)

  • ? Real-time structural validation (lintel capacity checks)

  • ? Automated frame coordination (door schedule integration)

  • ? Conflict detection (interference with rebar/embeds)

  • ? Code compliance checking (ADA, egress requirements)

Typical Workflow (v7.0)

1. User adds door to 12'×10' panel
2. Opens dl_dlg, enters: 3'×7' door
3. v7.0 AI validates:
? Opening size: OK (within panel bounds)
? Lintel capacity: OK (adequate for 3' span)
?? WARNING: Door 18" from panel edge (recommend 24")
? ADA compliance: 36" min width met
   ?? Conflicts with rebar #5 @ 6" from left
4. AI suggests: "Move opening 6" right, clears all conflicts"
5. User accepts, opening relocated automatically
6. Frame schedule updated with door specs

Opening Types

Door Categories:

  • Personnel door (3’×7’, single/double)

  • Overhead door (8’×10’, vehicle access)

  • Service door (4’×8’, equipment)

  • Storefront (8’×10’, commercial)

  • Custom (any size)

AI Size Suggestions:

Building type: Office
AI recommends:
- Main entrance: 6'×8' (double door)
- Interior: 3'×7' (single door)
- Service: 3'×7' (rear access)
- ADA compliant: All meet 32" clear width

Building type: Warehouse
AI recommends:
- Overhead: 12'×14' (truck access)
- Personnel: 3'×7' (standard)

Structural Validation (v7.0)

Real-Time Checks:

As opening sized/positioned:

Lintel Check:
Span: 3'-0"
Load above: 4' × 100 PSF = 400 PLF
Required: 2-#4 bars minimum
Provided: 2-#5 bars ? OK (SF = 2.1)

Edge Distance:
Left: 18" ?? (recommend 24")
Right: 114" ? OK
Top: 36" ? OK
Bottom: 0" (at grade) ? OK

Pier Width (between openings):
Not applicable (single opening) ?

Status: PASS with 1 warning

Frame Coordination

Automatic Schedule Update:

Door added to panel P-105
Frame: Hollow metal frame, 3'-0" × 7'-0"
Hardware: Lockset, closer, hinges
Finish: Paint grade

Schedule entry created:
| Panel | Mark | Size | Frame Type | Hardware |
|-------|------|-------|------------|----------|
| P-105 | D-1 | 3×7 | HM | Standard |

Frame supplier notified automatically
Delivery coordinated with panel

Conflict Detection (v7.0)

AI Scans For:

Rebar conflicts:
?? Vertical bars #5 @ 12" o.c.
Opening interferes with bar at 36"
Solution: Relocate bar OR move opening

Embed conflicts:
?? Lift insert at 24" from left
   Opening 6" away - OK ?

Weld plate conflicts:
? No conflicts detected

Utility conflicts:
?? Electrical conduit planned in wall
   Verify coordination with electrical

AI provides solutions for all conflicts!

Code Compliance (v7.0)

ADA Requirements:

Minimum clear width: 32" (3'-0" door = 36" opening ?)
Maximum threshold: 1/2" ?
Maneuvering clearance: 60" × 60" ?
Hardware height: 48" max ?

Status: ADA COMPLIANT ?

Egress Requirements:

Minimum door width: 32" ?
Minimum height: 6'-8" (7'-0" provided ?)
Swing direction: Outward (if required) ??
Hardware: Panic hardware (if >50 occupants) ??

AI flags requirements based on occupancy type

Best Practices (v7.0)

Opening Placement:

  • ? Use AI placement suggestions (optimized)

  • ? Maintain 24” min edge distance

  • ? Center openings when possible

  • ? Clear conflicts before finalizing

Structural:

  • ? Verify lintel capacity (real-time check)

  • ? Add diagonal bars at corners (prevent cracking)

  • ? Adequate pier width (2’-3’ min between openings)

Coordination:

  • ? Update frame schedule immediately

  • ? Coordinate with MEP (conduit, ducts)

  • ? Verify ADA compliance (AI check)

Enhancement Status: ? v7.0 ENHANCED [5/38]
