Customize the color theme¶
Pick the color scheme ConstructiVision draws with, edit it role by role, add your company logo, and save it as your default.
A theme is a named set of drawing colors — one per role (dimensions, connections, reveals, hardware, and so on) — plus an optional company logo. Themes are applied deliberately: nothing recolors on its own. OK applies the colors on screen to the current drawing; Set Active makes a theme the palette every subsequent ConstructiVision draw uses.
The Theme / Color Scheme Manager¶
Open it with the Color Theme toolbar button (or the CV-THEME command). The dialog —
Theme / Color Scheme Manager — has four areas: the theme library, the two role-color columns,
the company logo, and the save row.
The theme library¶
The Theme list holds the two built-in presets plus every theme you’ve saved. Load brings the selected theme’s colors into the editor, Set Active makes it the default without touching the current drawing, Delete removes a saved theme.
Preset |
Palette |
|---|---|
modern |
The default — dark-gray dimensions and text, blue connections, light-gray reveals, red hardware and pick / brace points. |
classic |
The legacy palette the older releases drew with — magenta dimensions, yellow reveals, blue hardware, red wall perimeter. |
The built-ins are starting points: Load one and edit from there. They can never be overwritten or deleted — Save and Delete refuse the names modern and classic.
Edit the role colors¶
Each row is one role: Pick… opens AutoCAD’s standard color picker, and the chosen AutoCAD color number appears beside a live color swatch.

Company logo¶
Browse… selects a logo image (.bmp, .jpg, .jpeg, or .png). The active theme’s logo is placed on the finished drawing’s title block in place of the default.
Save, apply, set the default¶
Save (with a name in the Save as company theme row) stores the current editor state as a named theme in your library — it appears in the Theme list immediately.
OK applies the colors currently shown to the open drawing. If you also gave the theme a name, OK saves it and makes it the active default in the same step.
Set Active changes only the default — the palette used by every ConstructiVision draw from now on — without recoloring anything already on screen.
Cancel changes nothing.
What a theme affects¶
Layer colors by role — including the panels referenced into a site plan, so a site drawing recolors consistently with its panels. Layers that are turned off stay off.
Site annotation entities — wall dimension text and number blocks, and the site grid with its bubbles and numbers.

Where themes live¶
Themes are per Windows user, not per project or per drawing — saved under your user application-data folder, they follow you across sessions and projects. Two notes:
Sharing across a company: point the
CV_THEME_SHAREenvironment variable at a shared folder and its themes become loadable by name on every machine; a company-active default in that folder is used when a user hasn’t set their own active theme.Resilient by design: a missing or unreadable theme file never breaks a draw — ConstructiVision falls back to the standard modern palette.
Notes¶
Colors are AutoCAD color numbers (ACI). What each number looks like on paper depends on your plot style — see Plot and print drawings.
Weld-connection face colors are fixed in this release. The up-face (teal) and down-face (blue) colors of weld connections are stored on the theme record for a future release but are not yet changed by it.
The dialog needs the full AutoCAD window — like every ConstructiVision dialog, it is part of the drawing session, not a stand-alone tool.
