408 — The materials list

What the project adds up to — and the CSV of it.

Note

This lesson also exists in the browser. Work it in ConstructiVision on the web — same steps, same values, so you can follow either and end up with the same panel.

Where it is

Utilities → Materials List, or Export → Materials CSV. Same dialog. The two names are honest about its two jobs: it is something you read, and something you take away.

What it totals

Concrete · Weight

what gets poured and what gets lifted

Finished area · Form area

the two areas that are not the same number

Reinforcing steel · Chamfer

by quantity

Brace points · Pick points · Weld connections

by count

Sections you do not see are sections the project does not have. Connection Hardware, for one, only appears once there is hardware to total — so a missing heading means an empty category, not a broken list.

Finished area and form area are different questions, and the list keeps them apart: one is the face you see, the other is what you have to form to get it.

It is derived, not entered

Every one of these is computed from the panels. You never type a total — which means the list is only as right as the panels are, and a number that looks wrong here is a panel problem, not a list problem.

That also makes it a check. A total that surprises you is worth chasing back to the panel that produced it.

The CSV

The dialog offers the same figures as a download, named after the project — <Project_Name>_materials.csv. That is the version that goes to whoever is buying.

What to take away

Read it as a check on the panels, not as a form to fill in. Everything here is derived, so a wrong total is a wrong panel — and the CSV carries the same numbers to whoever needs them.
