201 — Chamfer, in cv-web

The cv-web counterpart to tutorial 101 — and the first one in this band that is not a step-for-step mirror, because the two products do different jobs with a chamfer.

Note

This lesson also exists in the browser. Work it in ConstructiVision on the web — same steps, same values, so you can follow either and end up with the same panel.

cv-cad cuts it. cv-web shows it.

cv-cad (tutorial 101)

edits the chamfer, in its own dialog, from either route

cv-web

displays it on the Elevations view — and edits it from Program Options

Note

Correction. This page previously said cv-web could not edit a chamfer at all. It can — Program Options → Change Thickness opens a dialog titled Chamfer Details.

That tile is mislabelled (tracked as CV-1997), which is why the editor is hard to find. It is the right place to change a chamfer in the browser; the Elevations view only shows you the value.

Where to find it

It is not in the panel editor. Switch to Elevations in the top bar and read it with the rest of the set-level values.

That placement makes sense once you see it: a chamfer matters to whoever is reading the elevation — it changes what the panel edge looks like in the set — and cv-web’s Elevations view is the set-level surface.

Steps

  1. Load the sample project.

  2. Switch to Elevations.

  3. Find Chamfer among the elevation properties, and read the value.

There is no step four. The value comes from the panel record; nothing on this screen changes it.

Note

On the sample project this reads -, and that is correct. The sample panel has no chamfer, so there is no value to show. A dash here means “this panel has none”, not “the field is broken” — cut one in AutoCAD following tutorial 101 and it appears.

Why the lesson stops there

A tutorial that showed you a value and implied you could edit it would send you hunting a control that does not exist. The same honesty applies elsewhere in this band: tutorial 206 says the Ledgers group does not expand, and 207 says Roof Line is a set of fields rather than a group.

Where the two products genuinely differ, the lesson names the difference.

What to take away

The chamfer you cut in cv-cad shows up here, on the elevation, for the person reading the set. One place to change it, another place to see it.
