211 — Windows (Standard Openings), in cv-web¶
The same feature AutoCAD calls a Standard Opening.
Note
One feature, two names. cv-web calls this Windows; AutoCAD calls it Standard
Opening Details. They write the same record (wdvar), so an opening made in one appears
in the other — under a different heading. Worth knowing before you go looking for
“Windows” in AutoCAD and conclude it is missing.
Note
This lesson also exists in the browser. Work it in ConstructiVision on the web — same steps, same values, so you can follow either and end up with the same panel.
Where it is¶
Program Options → Windows. The cap is in the title: Windows (6 max) — six per panel, against four for a rough opening.
Same shape as rough openings¶
If you have done 210, this will be familiar, and that is deliberate — the feature dialogs share a pattern:
Common Window Sizes — a collapsed palette at the top. Open it, click a preset, and you have an opening at a standard size.
The slot rows — width, height and position per opening, with Ctr buttons to centre it across or up the panel.
Learn the pattern once and every feature dialog reads the same way.
Windows versus rough openings¶
Both cut a hole. The distinction is what goes in it:
Rough opening |
a framed opening — something gets built into it |
Window (standard opening) |
a standard unit at a catalogue size |
If you are placing a stock size, this is the one. If you are leaving a hole for someone else to frame, that is 210.
It is checked against the corpus¶
wdvar is one of the features the corpus review watches, so an
unusual window gets a marker before the panel is cast.
What to take away¶
Six per panel, start from a common size, and remember it is a Standard Opening on the AutoCAD side — same record, different heading.
