How-To Guides

Task-oriented — practical recipes for a user who already knows the basics.

Each guide answers a single real-world goal — “how do I add an overhead door?”, “how do I generate a panel book?” — with the exact dialog, the fields that matter, and the expected result. Unlike the tutorials, these assume you already know your way around ConstructiVision.

All twenty-two guides below are written and followable today. Guides marked ✅ include product screenshots of the key dialogs; the site layout guide’s captures are on the way.

Project & workspace

Guide

Goal

Design a project in the order it is built

Design the site and each panel in the order the crew builds them, from the form to the lifting inserts.

✅ Move or rename a project

Rename the current project or re-point its folder to a new location on disk.

✅ Customize the color theme

Pick, edit, and save the drawing color scheme — and make it your default.

Panel features

Guide

Goal

✅ Set panel marks and gridline marks

Control the panel mark (prefix / number / suffix) and label the panel’s gridlines.

✅ Add a standard opening

Cut a window / generic opening and dimension it.

✅ Add a man door

Place a man door with size, position, and swing.

✅ Add an overhead / dock door

Place an overhead door or dock-leveler opening.

✅ Add a recess or blockout

Place rectangular, circular, arched, or triangular recesses / blockouts.

✅ Add a pilaster or lintel

Add a pilaster and the lintel over an opening.

✅ Add a ledger and top plate

Place a ledger and top plate with anchor hardware.

✅ Add chamfers and reveals

Apply chamfers, edge profiles, and reveal / rustication strips.

✅ Add pick points and brace points

Place lifting inserts (pick points) and brace points.

✅ Add weld connections

Place weld-plate connections singly, on edges, or in arrays.

✅ Work with linked panels

Link clone / mirror panels so a change to one carries forward to the others.

✅ Use the Slope Calculator

Work out elevations along a sloped ledger or embed run — across a whole wall line.

✅ Up-convert a legacy panel

Convert a panel from an older release to the current storage format — reversibly.

Site

Guide

Goal

Lay out the site

Define the site grid and draw the wall and slab lines the panel set hangs off.

Output & data

Guide

Goal

✅ Plot and print drawings

Print one drawing — to paper or PDF — with the right layers on.

✅ Print a panel book

Batch-print a dimensioned drawing set for the project’s panels.

✅ Track revisions

View and record panel revisions, and print the revision history.

✅ Generate a materials list

Produce the quantity take-off for the selected panels.

✅ Export lift-engineering data

Send panel data to a lift-engineering firm for crane / brace analysis.

Printing and exporting deliverables ties into your token balance — see Membership & Tokens for what is free and what spends a token.

Lifting, rigging & bracing (field guides)

Beyond the dialog recipes above, a set of field guides covers the construction side of tilt-up — crane planning and selection, rigging hardware and geometry, the panel lift / set / brace workflow, and the engineering checks behind them: lift calculations, brace-anchor design, and construction sequencing. Start with the 101 overview linked from the section index, then go deeper into the 201 workflow guides and 301 engineering guides as needed.

To hand your panel data to the lift-engineering firm that runs these checks, see Export lift-engineering data; the inserts that data carries are placed in Add pick points and brace points.
