Quick Reference¶
The one page to keep open while you work — commands, entry formats, and print routes at a glance.
New to ConstructiVision? Start with Getting Started. This page assumes you know the basics and just need to look something up fast.
Start a drawing¶
The shortest path from nothing to a dimensioned, printable panel:
New Project → fill in Project Details (name, Imperial / Metric, concrete spec, contractor info), then confirm the folder location in the New Project dialog — creates the project folder and its
.cvpfile.When asked, choose Panel (vs Site). See Getting Started.
In Main Panel Details, set width, height, thickness, the mark (prefix / number / suffix), and any gridline marks; confirm to draw the outline. See Set panel marks and gridline marks.
Add a feature — e.g. click Standard Opening, set the values, confirm. The panel redraws. See Add a standard opening.
Print All Layers (or Print Setup) → pick the device (or a PDF device) and paper size. See Plot and print drawings.
Every feature follows the same loop: open dialog → set values → confirm → panel redraws.
Commands by task¶
Toolbar and CV menu commands. Feature and site buttons are toolbar-only; the menu’s panel items are Edit Current Drawing and Edit Main Panel. Full descriptions — every button (with its icon), menu item, and typed command — are on Command & Toolbar Reference.

Dialog entry formats¶
What you can type into a ConstructiVision dimension field. Under most boxes are three sliders that nudge the value by feet, inches, and sixteenths if you prefer clicking to typing.
You type |
Means |
Notes |
|---|---|---|
|
25 ft 10 in |
Full architectural form. |
|
25 ft 10 in |
Foot mark |
|
all 22 ft 6 in |
The three forms are interchangeable. |
|
25 ft 10 in |
No foot mark → read as inches. |
|
7¼ in |
Whole inches + fraction, no foot mark. |
|
all 4 ft 0 in |
|
|
12 ft 11¾ in |
Fraction after the inches — dash form (as typed) or space form (as displayed). |
Distance-field shortcuts (position a feature across the panel):
Shortcut |
Meaning |
|---|---|
|
Adjacent — copy the previous row’s opening and place it that gap past it ( |
|
Center — center the opening on the panel. |
Measure From L / R |
Read the distance in from the left or right edge. |
Snap-to-Edge — instead of chasing an edge with a near-zero distance, use the Snap To boxes to register a feature against an edge: L / R snaps to a side (Distance greys out), T / B snaps to top / bottom (Elev greys out). Works for standard openings, recesses / blockouts, reveal strips, pilasters / lintels, roof lines, weld connections, and ledgers / top plates (the letter set varies by dialog — a ledger, for instance, snaps L / R only).
Auto Scale — leave Drawing Scale on Auto Scale and ConstructiVision fits the panel and its dimensions to the sheet automatically.
Elev From — a display lens (Finished Floor ↔ Bottom of Panel). It only changes how elevations are shown; the stored data does not change, and you can enter values in either datum.
Printing at a glance¶
Each route readies the drawing — saving it, presetting layers, or both — before the plot dialog opens; use them instead of plotting manually. Full workflow: Plot and print drawings.
Route |
Use it when |
|---|---|
Print Setup |
Plot the drawing exactly as currently displayed. |
Print All Layers |
Plot everything — turns every layer on first. |
Print Select Layouts |
Site drawings — presets solid / footing / slab layer sets, then plots. |
CV → Print → Panel → … |
A discipline sheet — one trade’s layers only (below). |
Discipline presets (CV → Print → Panel) — one panel, clean per-trade sheets:
Preset |
Shows |
|---|---|
All Layers |
The complete panel. |
Edge Form |
Edge-form details. |
Ledgers / Top Plate |
Ledger and top-plate hardware. |
Weld Connections |
Weld-plate connections. |
Reveal |
Reveal / rustication layout. |
Pick / Brace Points |
Lifting inserts and brace points for the construction crew. |
To issue a PDF, pick a PDF device (e.g. DWG To PDF.pc3) in the plot dialog — plotting to a PDF device is the PDF export; no separate step. OK stays greyed out until both Plot Device and Plot Style are set to something other than None.
