418 — Exporting one panel, or one site

Sending a single thing rather than the whole project.

Note

This lesson also exists in the browser. Work it in ConstructiVision on the web — same steps, same values, so you can follow either and end up with the same panel.

Where they are

Export → Panel (.cvpanel) and Export → Site (.cvsite). They complete the family: .cvp is the whole project, .cvt is a template, and these two are one piece each.

The panel export is complete

All 21 entity groups are included (openings, blockouts, features, structural, etc.).

Twenty-one is not a coincidence — it is every group in Program Options. A .cvpanel carries the whole panel, not a summary of it.

Import into any project with File → Import CV File to add this panel.

So a panel you got right once can be moved into any other job. That is the practical use: a panel type you have already solved becomes reusable without exporting the project it came from.

The site export needs a site

Open it on a project with no site plan and it says so:

No site plan exists for this project. Use Site → Site Setup to create one first.

Same refusal as the site DXF, and the same reason it is right: an empty site file looks like a working export until somebody opens it.

The two are not symmetric. A panel always exists to export; a site has to be built first — see Site Setup.

Which one do you want?

.cvpanel

one panel, all 21 groups, droppable into any project

.cvsite

one site plan, once it exists

.cvp

everything

.cvt

everything, with the job identity stripped

What to take away

Export a panel to reuse it elsewhere; export a site to move the layout. If the site export refuses, you have not built one yet — that is the message, not a fault.
