203 — Recess & Blockout, in cv-web

The cv-web companion to tutorial 103. Most of what you cut into a panel face comes out of one dialog in AutoCAD. cv-web splits it by shape.

Note

This lesson also exists in the browser. Work it in ConstructiVision on the web — same steps, same values, so you can follow either and end up with the same panel.

Before you start

Open cv-web, load the ConstructiVision Sample Building sample project, and switch to Panel mode in the top bar. Features live as groups in the properties panel on the right.

Where it is

Tutorial 103 uses a single Recess/Blockout dialog and picks a Shape — Rectangle, Circle, Arch or Triangle. cv-web splits the same feature into two groups:

cv-cad

cv-web

Recess/Blockout, Shape = Rectangle / Arch / Triangle

Rect Blockouts

Recess/Blockout, Shape = Circle

Round Blockouts

Same feature, different arrangement. If you are looking for a round penetration, it is under Round Blockouts here and under Shape = Circle there.

The reading that matters in both

Thickness is what separates the two things this feature makes: less than the panel is a recess, all the way through is a blockout. Everything else on the row places it.

A beam pocket is this feature with Z Offset 0 — the product’s own vocabulary, in either tool.

Honest differences

  • No modal dialog. cv-cad opens a dialog; cv-web expands a group in place.

  • No sheet border. The browser shows the panel, not a shop drawing sheet.

Everything the two products both expose should agree exactly. A value that differs between them is a defect worth reporting, not a difference to work around.
