306 — Brace clash detection

Band 300 · cv-web · Brace mode

A panel standing on its own is held up by braces until the structure can carry itself. Braces are temporary, they run at an angle to the ground, and they are in the way by nature.

Note

This lesson also exists in the browser. Work it in ConstructiVision on the web — same steps, same values, so you can follow either and end up with the same panel.

Getting there

Brace on the mode bar, or Edit → Brace Plan.

Two kinds of interference

The plan separates them, because they are different problems on site:

brace against brace

two braces fighting for the same ground — a sequencing problem

brace against panel

a brace crossing where a panel has to land — a geometry problem

The summary line reports what it checked and what it found, in the form panels checked · braces computed · clashes.

Reading the result honestly

Note

Earlier builds reported 84 clashes out of 120 braces on the sample building — all brace-panel — because the check compared each brace against every other panel’s final position without regard to when each exists. A brace is struck before the panels around it arrive, so an overlap in space is not always an overlap in time.

As of the CV-2003 fix the brace-panel check is construction-order aware: a brace is compared only against panels already standing when it is set — the same panel-number sequence the pick simulation uses. A brace can no longer be flagged against a panel that is not erected yet, so the count now reflects real, simultaneous interference. The brace-brace count is unaffected.

If your own job still shows a high brace-panel count after this, that points at the brace layout itself — angle, side or spacing defaults sending braces into neighbours that are standing — which is a separate question from construction order.

Why a clean plan would not have proved anything

If this had reported zero clashes, that would be the absence of a finding, not evidence the check works. A detector that has only ever said “clean” has not been shown to be capable of saying anything else.

What establishes a check is that it reports a clash when one is put in front of it — and that it stays quiet when one is not. Both directions, every time.
